Meet the Altar Servers & Sacristans
Each celebration requires between two to six servers to assist at the altar. Here at St. John’s opportunities are provided for both young people and adults to serve on weekends, with the weekday Masses or at special celebrations such as funerals or weddings. Training is provided and a team approach to this ministry makes it an enjoyable way to become involved in the parish.
Meet the Parish Musicians
Involved in the Ministry of Music are a choir every second week at the Sunday 9:00 AM Mass (piano & organ) and a choir (guitar, flute, piano) weekly at the Saturday 5:15 Mass. The music at 11:00 AM Mass each Sunday and every second Sunday at 9:00 AM is congregational and led by a variety of parishioners. The choir recesses during the summer months. New members and musicians are always welcome. The parish office can put you in touch with the directors.
Meet the Parish RCIA Team
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (often abbreviated RCIA) is the process through which interested, unbaptized adults are gradually introduced to the Roman Catholic Faith and way of life.
The RCIA is a communal process and involves a number of stages punctuated by liturgical rites to aid and assist the potential convert toward the final rite at the Easter Vigil at which time they will become full members of the Roman Catholic Church. The entire process is open-ended but generally begins in September of each year and ends at Vigil. Participants are invited to proceed at a pace which suits them individually.
Each year the parish is looking for sponsors for new candidates. If you are interested in being a sponsor please contact the RCIA team through the church office.
Meet the Youth Ministry Coordinators
The Youth Ministry of St. John The Baptist embraces and supports our young people and their families, inspires and guides their spiritual growth as disciples of Christ, and empowers them to serve the church and the world.
The Youth Ministry program can be contacted through the church office. Our Youth Ministry Team is works closely with teams in our surrounding areas such as Stanleyville and Smiths Falls.
Readers and Extraordinary Ministers
Each week a team of over forty readers, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, ushers and adult servers assist with the Church’s services. If you are interested in becoming involved in any of these ministries please contact the church office. The following guidelines are available to help with these ministries:
