About the Parish

One of the oldest Roman Catholic parishes in Upper Canada, the first service was held in this historic building on Christmas Eve in 1848. Our Christian community actually predates the founding of Perth in 1816.

Map & Directions

Located on Wilson Street East, the Church's spire is one of Perth's dominating features. If you are coming in from Highway 7 you will discover that the Tay River splits Wilson Street into two parts. You will need to go east one block and then continue on through downtown Perth.

Parking & Accessibility

There is plenty of parking on the streets surrounding the church and in a parking lot behind the church. Access can be attained without stairs or obstructions from the parking lot, through a door on the north side of the building.

Mission Statement

As followers of Jesus, we, the family of St. John the Baptist Parish, in union with the Holy Spirit, are dedicated to building a Christian Community by proclaiming God’s Word through service and prayer.

Vision Statement

We will reach out and nurture the faith of all parishioners. We will respond to the needs of the community locally and globally. We will continue to foster the working together of home, school, parish. We will encourage active involvement in parish life.

The NET Team is back!

The NET Team is back for the New Year and we have some amazing hopes for your parishes! Here are some events in the next couple weeks where everyone can get involved:

January 24 – “Open Life Night” All parishioners are welcome to come to the Life Teen Night in Smiths Falls after the 6:30 Mass. Come meet some teens and see what Life Teen is like.

January 30 & 31 – “Volunteer Blitz” Information regarding all types of volunteer opportunities with the NET team will be provided in both parishes!

Gr.9-12 Youth Program: We have also restarted Life Teen – every Sunday night after the 6:30 Mass at St. Francis de Sales Parish in Smiths Falls.

Gr.6-8 Youth Program: We have also just started the Edge every Thursday night from 7-9 at St. John’s High School in Perth.
