About the Parish

One of the oldest Roman Catholic parishes in Upper Canada, the first service was held in this historic building on Christmas Eve in 1848. Our Christian community actually predates the founding of Perth in 1816.

Map & Directions

Located on Wilson Street East, the Church's spire is one of Perth's dominating features. If you are coming in from Highway 7 you will discover that the Tay River splits Wilson Street into two parts. You will need to go east one block and then continue on through downtown Perth.

Parking & Accessibility

There is plenty of parking on the streets surrounding the church and in a parking lot behind the church. Access can be attained without stairs or obstructions from the parking lot, through a door on the north side of the building.

Mission Statement

As followers of Jesus, we, the family of St. John the Baptist Parish, in union with the Holy Spirit, are dedicated to building a Christian Community by proclaiming God’s Word through service and prayer.

Vision Statement

We will reach out and nurture the faith of all parishioners. We will respond to the needs of the community locally and globally. We will continue to foster the working together of home, school, parish. We will encourage active involvement in parish life.

Important Information Session …

On Sunday January 24, at 3 pm, the Parish Facility Committee will be holding an information session about the proposed Gathering Place. All parishioners are highly encouraged to attend.

Come and see what is being proposed.

It is a great opportunity to hear what the needs of our parish are and what can be done about it. If you have questions or concerns, this is the place to be heard. This will provide the opportunity for you to make an informed decision to vote on the viability of this project. Your vote will help the team make a “parish decision!”
