About the Parish

One of the oldest Roman Catholic parishes in Upper Canada, the first service was held in this historic building on Christmas Eve in 1848. Our Christian community actually predates the founding of Perth in 1816.

Map & Directions

Located on Wilson Street East, the Church's spire is one of Perth's dominating features. If you are coming in from Highway 7 you will discover that the Tay River splits Wilson Street into two parts. You will need to go east one block and then continue on through downtown Perth.

Parking & Accessibility

There is plenty of parking on the streets surrounding the church and in a parking lot behind the church. Access can be attained without stairs or obstructions from the parking lot, through a door on the north side of the building.

As followers of Jesus, we, the family of St. John the Baptist Parish, in union with the Holy Spirit, are dedicated to building a Christian Community by proclaiming God’s Word through service and prayer.

We will reach out and nurture the faith of all parishioners. We will respond to the needs of the community locally and globally. We will continue to foster the working together of home, school, parish. We will encourage active involvement in parish life.

Changes in Mass Times …

Effective January 4th there will be changes in the Daily Mass schedule.

Currently, the week day Masses are celebrated on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:00 AM with Mass on Tuesday and Thursday being at 6:15 PM. The new schedule will see the Wednesday morning Mass take place at 8:00 AM and the Thursday Mass at 12:05 PM. The Mass schedule for the weekends is not affected.

The weekday Mass schedule would now be:

Monday at 9:00 AM: Celebration of the Word and Communion Service
Tuesday at 6:15 PM: Daily Mass
Wednesday at 8:00 AM: Daily Mass
Thursday at 12:05 AM: Daily Mass
Friday at 9:00 AM Daily Mass

Parishioners are asked to check the weekly bulletin for special celebrations or changes to the times to accomodate a celebration with the school, a funeral or other parish celebrations.

Also, beginning January 4th, the Daily Mass will take place in the Chapel in the Parish Center at 15 Church Street (not the Rectory.)
