About the Parish

One of the oldest Roman Catholic parishes in Upper Canada, the first service was held in this historic building on Christmas Eve in 1848. Our Christian community actually predates the founding of Perth in 1816.

Map & Directions

Located on Wilson Street East, the Church's spire is one of Perth's dominating features. If you are coming in from Highway 7 you will discover that the Tay River splits Wilson Street into two parts. You will need to go east one block and then continue on through downtown Perth.

Parking & Accessibility

There is plenty of parking on the streets surrounding the church and in a parking lot behind the church. Access can be attained without stairs or obstructions from the parking lot, through a door on the north side of the building.

Mission Statement

As followers of Jesus, we, the family of St. John the Baptist Parish, in union with the Holy Spirit, are dedicated to building a Christian Community by proclaiming God’s Word through service and prayer.

Vision Statement

We will reach out and nurture the faith of all parishioners. We will respond to the needs of the community locally and globally. We will continue to foster the working together of home, school, parish. We will encourage active involvement in parish life.

A Note of Gratitude

Father Bill Burke Congratulations to all those who participated in the Parish Mission and thank you to the people who contributed to its success: the ushers, musicians, cantors and choir members, masters of ceremonies and adult servers, readers and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion photographer and videographer, those who prepared the reception, the staff and most especially to David and Elaine Cavalier who did everything from the very beginning: inviting our facilitator Father Bill and constantly communicating with him and doing all the necessary preparations.

Thank you also to those who donated money for the success of the Parish Mission. The total collection was $ 1,293.00. Also, thank you to Jaana Cavalier who designed the Parish Mission Poster and to Peter Blier for dinner for Father Burke at the Stone Cellar.
